Bologna is becoming increasingly digital, putting citizens at the center and leveraging technological innovation to deliver new services and reward virtuous behavior.
One of the innovations offered by the city government is the Smart Citizen Wallet, a wallet for virtuous citizens who, for example, properly segregate their waste or use public transport and aim to reward those who go unpunished. Citizens of Bologna who wish will be able to subscribe to this vehicle through an application.
A new social credit application will reward Italian citizens for their “virtuous behavior”.
A new app recently launched in Italy has features similar to China’s social credit system by rewarding certain citizens with a point system for their behavior.
The “Smart Citizen Wallet” application was presented at a press conference on digital innovation on March 29 in Bologna, where Mayor Matteo Lepore and the city’s Digital Agenda manager Massimo Bugani discussed the project.
